Description
If you’re looking for a .22LR pistol that can handle a little more than plinking, take a look at the Taurus TX22 Competition. We see a lot of folks around Birmingham using these for IPSC competitions down at the range, or setting them up for small game hunting on their property. It’s also a good pistol to learn on if you’re new to handguns, and it won’t beat you up with recoil.
What You’ll Get
This isn’t your grandpa’s .22 pistol. Taurus put some serious thought into the TX22 Competition. It’s built around a polymer frame with a black hardcoat anodized finish, giving you something that can hold up to the weather and regular use. It’s a full-size pistol, so it feels substantial in your hand, but it only weighs in at 23 ounces. The 5.25” threaded bull barrel gives you better accuracy, and lets you attach a suppressor if you’re set up for that—the threads are standard 1/2”x28.

The slide is already set up to accept a red dot optic, so you can add one without having to send it off for milling. It’s got good serrations for easy grip when you need to cycle the action. You’ll also find a Picatinny rail on the frame, so you can mount a light or laser. The 1:16” twist rate barrel works well with most .22LR ammo you’ll find around here.
