Description
If you’re lookin’ for a dependable handgun, the FN High Power is worth a look. A lot of folks around Birmingham use a 9mm for home defense, and this one’s built tough. Plenty of folks also carry for self-defense, and a single-action only pistol like this can be really accurate once you’re used to it. It’s also a good choice for time at the range, seein’ how accurate you can get.
About the FN High Power
This FN High Power is a modern take on a classic design – John Browning’s 1935 pistol. They say NATO used these for a long time, and for good reason. It’s a solid, well-built pistol, and FN has made some improvements over the original. They’ve worked on the grip and the trigger to make it easier to shoot accurately. The steel sights are adjustable, which is nice, and the single-action trigger is smooth.
One of the biggest changes is the magazine capacity. This version holds 10 rounds in the magazine, plus one in the chamber. It weighs in at around 40 ounces, so it feels substantial in your hand. FN kept the signature look of the High Power, with the angled slide and long slide release, but they added ambidextrous controls for folks who shoot left-handed. It also includes an extended beavertail and raised hammer.

The pistol disassembles easily for cleaning and maintenance, and they’ve removed the magazine disconnect safety. This means the pistol will fire even with an empty magazine inserted. It’s built with a cold hammer-forged barrel, and they’ve polished the feed ramp to make sure it cycles reliably with different types of 9mm ammunition.
