Key Features
- PowerPort Barrel & Slide Porting — WHY IT MATTERS: The ported barrel and matching slide cuts vent gas upward, reducing muzzle rise and felt recoil. You get back on target faster for follow-up shots, especially with hot 10mm loads.
- Optic-Ready Slide with Proprietary Cut — WHY IT MATTERS: The slide is pre-milled for a direct-mount red dot (no adapter plate needed for many popular footprints). This keeps the optic low and co-witnesses with the iron sights.
- Performance Center Flat-Face Trigger — WHY IT MATTERS: The trigger has a lighter pull and a crisp break compared to a standard M&P. The flat face gives you a consistent finger placement shot after shot.
- Interchangeable Palmswell Grip Inserts — WHY IT MATTERS: Four different grip sizes let you tailor the feel to your hand. A proper grip means better control and accuracy.
- Ameriglo Front Night Sight — WHY IT MATTERS: The tritium front glows in low light for fast sight acquisition. The blacked-out rear helps you focus on the front sight.
Who It's For
This pistol is for the shooter who wants 10mm power but doesn't want to fight the recoil. It's ideal for hikers, campers, and hunters who need reliable bear defense or backup in the woods. It also works great for home defense and for shooters who compete in limited or open divisions. Newer shooters will appreciate the reduced muzzle rise, while experienced shooters will like the factory Performance Center upgrades.
Pros & Cons
- Pros: Ported barrel reduces recoil noticeably; factory optic cut saves aftermarket milling cost; flat-face trigger is crisp; 15-round capacity in a compact frame; night sight included.
- Cons: The proprietary optic cut may limit red dot choices (check compatibility before buying). Ported barrels can cause more blast and noise, especially in low-light shooting. Some shooters find the grip texture a bit aggressive for concealed carry under a thin shirt.

FAQ
What red dots fit the S&W Performance Center M&P M2.0 Carry Comp?
The slide uses a proprietary cut designed for the Shield RMSc, Holosun 407K/507K, and similar micro red dots. Always check the specific footprint of your optic before buying. According to S&W specs, the cut is compatible with most micro-footprint sights.
Is this pistol good for concealed carry?
Yes, the compact 4" barrel and 28.5 oz weight make it manageable for IWB carry. The grip texture is aggressive, so a undershirt or holster with a sweat guard helps. The ported barrel may produce more blast, but for most shooters it's a fair trade for reduced recoil.
Can I use standard M&P M2.0 holsters with this Carry Comp model?
Most standard M&P M2.0 holsters will work, but the ported slide and slightly longer barrel (4" vs. 4.25") may require an open-ended holster or one designed for the Carry Comp. We recommend checking holster fit before buying, or choose a holster made specifically for the Carry Comp model.
Does the pistol come with a thumb safety?
This model does not include a thumb safety. The trigger safety and internal safeties are standard. If you prefer a manual safety, S&W offers M&P M2.0 models with one, but the Performance Center Carry Comp in 10mm is currently available without it.
