The Bodyguard .38’s double-action-only trigger provides a consistent, deliberate pull every time, eliminating a manual safety and reducing complexity under stress. The shrouded hammer ensures it will not snag on clothing during a rapid presentation, a critical factor for a weapon that may be drawn in close contact. The integrated Crimson Trace laser is a significant force multiplier, especially in low-light conditions common to defensive encounters. It allows for accurate point-shooting without requiring perfect sight alignment, which can be compromised in high-stress situations. The lightweight polymer frame makes it easy to carry all day, while the stainless steel cylinder and barrel provide the durability expected from Smith & Wesson. What’s in the Box S&W M&P Bodyguard .38 Revolver Integrated Crimson Trace Laser Sight One Speed Loader Two Keys for Laser Activation Owner’s Manual Lock Frequently Asked Questions Q: Is the laser sight always on? A: No. The laser is activated by a button located on the front of the grip frame. It requires deliberate pressure to activate, preserving battery life and preventing accidental disclosure of your position. Q: Can this revolver handle +P ammunition? A: Yes, the S&W Bodyguard .38 is rated for standard pressure and .38 Special +P ammunition. While +P offers increased performance, expect greater recoil and muzzle flash from the short barrel. Q: Is this suitable for a beginner? A: Its simple operation is an advantage, but the long, heavy double-action trigger pull and significant recoil with defensive loads require dedicated practice to master. It is a specialized tool best served by consistent training.
