Key Features
- Forged steel frame and slide: Why it matters — forged parts are stronger and last longer than cast or MIM components, giving you a gun that holds up to years of shooting.
- Match-grade barrel: Why it matters — a 5-inch barrel with tight tolerances means better accuracy right from the factory, so you can trust your shots at the range or in competition.
- Thinline wood laminate grips: Why it matters — these slim grips reduce bulk in your hand, making the Garrison easier to carry and more comfortable for shooters with smaller hands.
- Low-profile 3-dot combat sights: Why it matters — they give you a clean sight picture without snagging on holsters or clothing, so you can get on target fast.
- GI-style recoil system: Why it matters — it’s a proven, simple design that’s easy to maintain and reliable with a wide range of .45 ACP loads.
Who It’s For
This pistol is for the shooter who wants a classic 1911 without paying custom-gun prices. It’s a great fit for new gun owners who want a reliable full-size .45, or for experienced shooters looking for a solid platform to build on. The Garrison works well for range days, USPSA single-stack competition, and home defense.
Pros & Cons
- Pros: Forged frame and slide add durability; match-grade barrel for accuracy; thinline grips fit most hands; traditional blued finish looks sharp.
- Cons: The blued finish requires regular oiling to prevent rust, especially in humid climates — it’s not as low-maintenance as a stainless or coated gun.

FAQ

Yes, it ships in a Springfield Armory hard plastic case with one 7-round magazine, a cable lock, and a manual.
Is the .45 ACP Garrison safe for left-handed shooters?
The safety and slide stop are on the left side, but the ambidextrous safety is not standard. You can install an aftermarket ambi safety if needed.
Can I use hollow-point ammunition in this gun?
Yes, the match-grade barrel and GI-style feed ramp handle most hollow-point loads reliably, but test a few brands to be sure.
How does the blued finish hold up over time?
Blued steel looks great but requires care. Keep it lightly oiled and wipe it down after handling to prevent rust, especially in humid weather.
