About this product
The SDS MAC 9 DS-D 9mm 5″ Pistol, AOS Optic Cut, 2x17rd is a modern take on the classic 1911 platform, built for shooters who want a double-stack 9mm with a red-dot-ready slide. It pairs a 5-inch bull barrel with the Agency Optic System (AOS) cut, letting you mount most popular micro-dots without losing your fiber optic front and serrated backup sights. This MAC 9 DS-D ships with two 17-round magazines, an ambidextrous safety, and an underbarrel rail for lights or lasers. The QPQ Tenifer Cerakote finish keeps corrosion at bay while giving it a low-glare, professional look. Whether you are a competition shooter, a home defender, or a new gun owner stepping up from a single-stack, this pistol offers proven ergonomics with modern capacity.

Key Features
- Agency Optic System (AOS) Cut – WHY IT MATTERS: This cut lets you swap optic plates without sending the slide to a machinist. You can mount a red dot in minutes, keeping your zero and your backup sights aligned.
- 5-Inch Bull Barrel – WHY IT MATTERS: A bull barrel adds weight forward for reduced muzzle flip and improved accuracy. It also eliminates the barrel bushing, making takedown simpler for new shooters.
- Double-Stack 17-Round Magazines – WHY IT MATTERS: Two 17-rounders come in the box, giving you 34 rounds total. This is a big step up from standard 1911 capacity, perfect for range sessions or defensive use.
- Ambidextrous Safety – WHY IT MATTERS: Left-handed shooters get the same thumb access as right-handed users. It’s also easier to manipulate under stress, whether you are a seasoned shooter or a new owner.
- QPQ Tenifer Cerakote Finish – WHY IT MATTERS: This finish resists rust and holster wear better than bluing or standard Cerakote. It keeps the gun looking good even with regular carry or competition use.
Who It’s For
This pistol is for shooters who want a 1911-style grip angle and trigger feel but need more than 7 or 8 rounds. It is a good fit for USPSA Single Stack or Limited divisions, home defense, or as a range gun for new owners who want to learn on a reliable platform. The AOS cut makes it easy to add a red dot later, so it grows with your skill level.
Pros and Cons
- Pros: High capacity for a 1911, optic-ready from the factory, bull barrel for accuracy, ambi safety for lefties, durable finish.
- Cons: Weight may feel heavy for some shooters (40 ounces unloaded). The grip is wider than a standard 1911, which may be a stretch for smaller hands.

Does the SDS MAC 9 DS-D come with optic plates?
Yes, it ships with at least one AOS plate for the RMR footprint. Additional plates for Holosun, Shield, and other patterns are available separately from Agency Arms or SDS Imports.
Will this pistol work with standard 1911 holsters?
It fits most 5-inch 1911 holsters, but the wider grip and underbarrel rail may require a holster designed for double-stack 1911s. Check with your holster maker for fit.
Can I use +P ammunition in this pistol?
Per manufacturer specs, the MAC 9 DS-D is rated for +P ammunition. However, extended use of +P+ may accelerate wear. Stick to standard pressure for practice and +P for carry or competition if needed.
Is the safety reversible for left-handed shooters?
The safety is ambidextrous from the factory, so no reversal is needed. It works out of the box for both right and left hands.
