Key Features
- Threaded Barrel (½×28) — Why it matters: You can attach a suppressor or compensator without sending the barrel out for threading. The FNC nitride finish resists wear and rust better than standard bluing.
- Optic-Ready Slide with RMSc/RMR/DeltaPoint Pro Footprint — Why it matters: You don’t need an adapter plate for the three most common red dot patterns. Mount your Holosun, Trijicon, or Leupold directly and get on target faster.
- Serrated Slide Sides and Front/Rear Cocking Serrations — Why it matters: Positive grip for press checks and slide manipulation, even with sweaty or gloved hands.
- Textured Polymer Grip with Interchangeable Backstraps — Why it matters: The aggressive texture keeps the gun planted in your hand, and you can swap backstraps to fit small, medium, or large hands.
- Integral Accessory Rail (Picatinny-style) — Why it matters: Mount a weapon light or laser without proprietary adapters. Makes it a viable home-defense tool in low light.
Who It’s For
This Ruger RXM is for the shooter who wants a modern defensive handgun with an optics-ready slide and threaded barrel but doesn’t need a custom build. It’s a great fit for first-time gun buyers looking to add a red dot later, experienced shooters who want a suppressor host, and anyone who wants a rugged, no-fuss 9mm for home defense or range use. The 15+1 capacity and accessory rail also make it a solid choice for nightstand duty.
Pros & Cons
- Pro: Three optic footprints covered without adapter plates — saves you $50–100 and keeps the slide profile low.
- Pro: Threaded barrel is factory-standard, so you skip the hassle of aftermarket fitting.
- Pro: Ruger’s reputation for reliability and customer service means you can count on it out of the box.
- Con: The trigger is serviceable but not competition-grade — expect a 5.5–6 lb pull with some creep. If you need a crisp 1911-style trigger, you’ll want to swap it.
