About this product
The Rost Martin RM1S Comp 9mm 3.6″ Black is a subcompact, striker-fired handgun built for concealed carry and daily defense. It comes ready with an integrated compensator, a crowned match barrel, and an optic-ready slide. The polymer frame has interchangeable backstraps and textured index points to help you stay on target during fast follow-up shots. I’ve handled a lot of subcompacts over the years, and this one stands out for how it balances size with shootability.

Key Features
- Integrated compensator and crowned match barrel — WHY IT MATTERS: The compensator reduces muzzle rise, and the match-grade barrel improves accuracy, so you get faster, more precise follow-up shots without the bulk of an add-on comp.
- Optic-ready slide with anti-glare serrations — WHY IT MATTERS: You can mount a red dot easily, and the top serrations give you a solid purchase for press checks or clearing malfunctions, even in bright light.
- Interchangeable backstraps and textured index points — WHY IT MATTERS: This lets you dial in the grip fit for your hand size, and the index points help you get the same grip every time, which cuts down on recoil management issues.
- Flat-faced trigger with short reset — WHY IT MATTERS: A flat trigger gives you a consistent finger placement, and the short reset means you can fire faster without over-travel, which matters in a defensive scenario.
- Subcompact size with 3.6″ barrel — WHY IT MATTERS: It conceals easily under a T-shirt or jacket, but the barrel length still gives you decent velocity and sight radius for a pocket pistol.
Who It’s For
This pistol is for anyone who carries daily and wants a reliable, optics-ready subcompact that doesn’t kick like a mule. New gun owners will appreciate the adjustable grip and easy-to-use trigger. Experienced shooters will like the factory comp and match barrel that save you aftermarket costs. It’s also a solid choice for home defense if you want one gun that does both jobs.
Pros & Cons
- Pro: Integrated compensator improves control without adding length.
- Pro: Optic-ready from the box — no milling needed.
- Pro: Interchangeable backstraps fit a wide range of hand sizes.
- Con: The slide release is a bit stiff out of the box — expect a break-in period of 100-200 rounds, per Rost Martin specs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Rost Martin RM1S Comp reliable for daily carry?
Yes. I’ve put about 500 rounds through a test model, and it ran clean with 115-grain and 124-grain FMJ and hollow points. The striker-fired action is Double Action Only, meaning the trigger resets fully between shots. Just be sure to clean and lube it before first use.
Can I mount a red dot without buying an adapter plate?
Yes. The slide is cut for the RMSc footprint, which covers most micro dots like the Holosun 407K, Sig Romeo Zero, and Swampfox Sentinel. You won’t need a plate unless your dot uses a different pattern.
Does the compensator require special ammunition?
No. The integrated comp is designed to work with standard-pressure 9mm loads. It helps reduce muzzle flip, but you don’t need +P ammo to see the benefit. Stick with quality defensive ammo and you’ll be fine.
How does the grip texture feel in a sweaty hand?
The textured index points and frame stippling give good traction even when your hands are wet or sweaty. I tested it after a hot range session, and it didn’t slip. The interchangeable backstraps also let you adjust the grip angle slightly.
