About this product
The Rock Island Rock Standard FS 1911 Pistol in 9mm with a 5-inch barrel, stainless steel slide and frame, wood grips, and a 10-round magazine is a solid, no-nonsense 1911 built for shooters who value tradition and reliability. Chambered in 9mm, this full-size pistol delivers the classic Series 70 design with modern touches, all at a price that won't break the bank. Per Armscor specifications, the slide features double-wide slant serrations and a traditional roll-over ejection port, while the frame and exposed parts are matte chrome steel for a clean, corrosion-resistant finish. The wood grips add a touch of class, and the 10-round capacity gives you a bit more firepower than the standard 8-round 1911. Whether you're heading to the range or carrying afield, this Rock Island 1911 is built to last.

Key Features
- Classic Series 70 Design — Built without a firing pin safety block, this gives you a crisp, clean trigger pull right out of the box. Why it matters: You get that traditional 1911 trigger feel that competition shooters and purists love, with fewer parts to worry about.
- Stainless Steel Slide & Frame — The entire pistol is made from corrosion-resistant stainless steel, with matte chrome finish on all exposed parts. Why it matters: This gun holds up to humidity, sweat, and wet weather — perfect for a long day in the dove field or a humid Southern summer at the range.
- Ambidextrous Safety & Beavertail Grip Safety — The ambi safety works for left- and right-handed shooters, and the beavertail prevents hammer bite. Why it matters: You can shoot comfortably with either hand, and the beavertail keeps your hand high on the grip for better recoil control.
- 10-Round Magazine — Comes with a single 10-round magazine, giving you two extra rounds over a standard 1911. Why it matters: More rounds on tap without making the grip longer — great for competition or home defense.
- Low-Profile Rear Sight & Skeletonized Hammer — The rear sight is snag-free and angled smooth, while the skeletonized hammer reduces lock time. Why it matters: The sight won't catch on your holster or clothing, and the lighter hammer gives you a faster, more consistent ignition.
Who It's For
This Rock Island 1911 is for the Southern shooter who appreciates a classic design but wants it in a modern caliber. It's for the dove hunter who needs a reliable sidearm for the field, the range shooter who wants a 9mm 1911 for cheaper practice, and the collector who values stainless steel durability. It's also a fine choice for anyone looking to step into the 1911 platform without spending a fortune — you get a full-size, 5-inch barrel, wood grips, and a 10-round capacity for right around $630.
Pros & Cons
- Pro: Price — at just over $600, you get a stainless steel 1911 with wood grips and a 10-round magazine. That's hard to beat.
- Pro: Caliber — 9mm is cheaper to shoot than .45 ACP, so you can practice more without breaking the bank.
- Con: The factory trigger is a bit heavy out of the box — expect around 5-6 pounds. It's serviceable, but a drop-in trigger kit can smooth it out nicely.

FAQ
Does this 1911 have a firing pin block safety?
No, it is built on the classic Series 70 design, which means there is no firing pin block. This gives you a cleaner, lighter trigger pull compared to Series 80 pistols.
What magazines are compatible with this pistol?
It uses standard 9mm 1911 magazines. The included 10-round magazine fits flush with the grip. Aftermarket options from Mec-Gar, Wilson Combat, and Chip McCormick also work well.
Is this pistol good for concealed carry?
It's a full-size 5-inch 1911, so it's a bit large for everyday concealed carry. It works well for open carry, range use, or as a home defense pistol. If you want something smaller, look at the Rock Island 1911 in 4-inch or 3.5-inch models.
What is the warranty on this pistol?
Armscor offers a limited lifetime warranty on the Rock Island firearms. Contact their customer service for details. We also back every purchase with our 30-day return policy.
