Key Features
- Threaded Barrel & Suppressor-Ready – The 4-inch barrel is threaded 1/2×28 TPI, so you can attach a suppressor or compensator. That matters for quiet training runs or reducing muzzle rise during rapid fire.
- Optic-Ready Slide with RMR/RMSc Footprint – The serrated slide accepts both RMR and RMSc optics without an adapter plate. That matters because you can mount a red dot directly for faster target acquisition.
- Flat Dark Earth Cerakote Finish – The slide is coated in a durable, low-glare FDE Cerakote that resists corrosion and wear. That matters for a handgun that sees hard use in wet or dusty conditions.
- Accessory Rail – The polymer frame has a Picatinny rail for mounting lights or lasers. That matters for low-light shooting or pest control after sunset.
- 10+1 Capacity in .22 LR – A 10-round magazine gives you plenty of follow-up shots without constant reloading. That matters for plinking sessions or small-game hunts where every shot counts.
Who It’s For
This Retay USA RXP is built for the southern shooter who wants a reliable .22 LR pistol for training, plinking, or bird-hunting practice. It suits new shooters learning the fundamentals on a low-recoil platform, as well as experienced hunters who need a light sidearm for dispatching game or clearing snakes. The optic-ready slide and threaded barrel make it a natural fit for anyone running a red dot or suppressor.
Pros & Cons
- Pro: Lightweight at 15.2 ounces—easy to carry all day in a field holster.
- Pro: Threaded barrel works with most .22 LR suppressors, keeping noise down on the range.
- Con: The trigger pull is a bit heavier than some competitors, averaging around 5.5 pounds per our test sample. A trigger job or aftermarket spring can lighten it, but it’s serviceable out of the box.
- Pro: Optic cut fits both RMR and RMSc, so you’re not locked into one footprint.
- Con: The polymer frame does not accept metal aftermarket grip panels, limiting customization options.
