Key Features
- Patent-Pending Toolless Compensator – WHY IT MATTERS: You can switch between compensated and non-compensated configurations in seconds, without wrenches or gunsmithing, letting you tune the pistol for different loads or range rules.
- Ported Channel – WHY IT MATTERS: Directs gas upward to counter muzzle flip, keeping your sights on target for faster, more accurate follow-up shots during drills or competition.
- 5-Inch Match-Grade Barrel – WHY IT MATTERS: Provides tight chamber tolerances and consistent accuracy shot after shot, giving you the edge in precision shooting and steel challenges.
- HIVIZ Fiber-Optic Front Sight – WHY IT MATTERS: Bright, high-visibility dot picks up ambient light for rapid target acquisition, even in low-light indoor ranges or overcast outdoor conditions.
- Black Lok Custom Boggy G10 Grips – WHY IT MATTERS: Textured G10 offers a secure, non-slip hold in wet or sweaty conditions, and the thin profile improves trigger reach for shooters with smaller hands.
Who It’s For
This pistol is for the experienced shooter who competes in USPSA or Steel Challenge, or anyone who trains seriously with a 1911 platform. It’s also a solid choice for the enthusiast who appreciates a factory-compensated gun without the hassle of aftermarket fitting. If you’re a new shooter stepping into a 1911 for the first time, the compensator helps manage recoil, making learning faster and more comfortable.
Pros & Cons
- Pros: Factory-compensated with tool-free removal; match-grade accuracy; durable Cerakote finish; bright fiber-optic sights; thin G10 grips improve ergonomics.
- Cons: The compensator adds length and weight, which may not fit standard 1911 holsters; .38 Super ammunition is less common and more expensive than 9mm, so factor in ammo cost for regular training.

FAQ
What is the barrel length of the Kimber Rampart .38 Super?
The barrel is a 5-inch match-grade barrel, per manufacturer specs. That’s standard for full-size 1911s, giving you a longer sight radius for precision shooting.
Does the compensator come off easily?
Yes. The patent-pending toolless compensator twists on and off by hand. No wrenches or tools required, which is rare for a factory 1911 comp. You can run it compensated for competition or remove it for concealed carry or storage.
What sights does it come with?
It has an HIVIZ fiber-optic front sight and a low-profile rear sight. The front fiber optic is interchangeable if you want a different color or width. It’s a bright, competition-ready setup.
Is this pistol legal in all states?
It ships with a 10-round magazine to comply with most state laws. Some states with magazine capacity restrictions may require a pinned mag. Check your local laws before ordering.
Can I use standard 1911 holsters with the compensator?
Not all. The compensator adds length beyond the 5-inch barrel, so you need a holster designed for a compensated 1911 or one that’s open-ended. Many competition holsters (like those from Safariland or DAA) work fine. Test fit before committing to a holster.
