Key Features
- Lightweight Aluminum Frame – Why it matters: The Custom LW Liberty uses a machined aluminum frame to cut weight to just 25 ounces, making it easier to carry all day without fatigue.
- 5-Inch Barrel with Fixed Sights – Why it matters: A full-length barrel gives you a longer sight radius for improved accuracy, while fixed sights keep the profile snag-free for concealed carry.
- Anka Grips – Why it matters: These smooth, black grips provide a secure hold in wet or sweaty conditions, ideal for southern humidity during dove hunts or range sessions.
- Single-Action Trigger – Why it matters: A crisp, single-action pull with a short reset means you can make fast, accurate follow-up shots when it counts.
- 9-Round Capacity – Why it matters: With one more round than a standard 1911, you get added peace of mind without increasing the grip size noticeably.
Who It's For

It also suits collectors who value Kimber's reputation for tight tolerances and reliable function.
Pros and Cons
- Pros: Lightweight aluminum frame, proven 1911 platform, accurate 5-inch barrel, 9mm for lower recoil and ammo cost, classic styling with Anka grips.
- Cons: Fixed sights limit customization for those who prefer adjustable options. The single-action trigger requires manual safety engagement, which may take practice for new shooters.

FAQ
Is the Kimber Custom LW Liberty 9mm reliable with all types of ammunition?
Yes, Kimber recommends using high-quality factory ammunition for best results. The pistol has been tested with 115-grain and 124-grain FMJ and JHP loads without issue. Avoid reloads or underpowered ammo to ensure reliable cycling.
Does this pistol come with a warranty?
Yes, Kimber provides a limited lifetime warranty to the original owner against defects in materials and workmanship. You can register your pistol on Kimber's website for full coverage details.
What holsters fit the Kimber Custom LW Liberty 9mm?
Most holsters designed for a full-size 1911 with a 5-inch barrel will fit. Look for options from brands like CrossBreed or Alien Gear that accommodate the 1911's trigger guard and thumb safety. The aluminum frame may affect retention on some molded holsters, so test fit before carrying.
Can I change the grips on this pistol?
Yes, the Kimber Custom LW Liberty uses standard 1911 grip bushings and screws, so you can swap the Anka grips for wood, G10, or rubber grips. Just ensure the replacement grips are cut for the 9mm frame profile.
