Description
The Kimber CDS9 9mm Optic-Ready Compact Two-Tone is a compact, double-stack 9mm semi-automatic pistol built for daily concealed carry. It pairs a lightweight aluminum frame with a serrated stainless steel slide, cut for RMSc optics, and comes ready to run right out of the box. Per Kimber specs, the CDS9 uses a stacked recoil spring assembly to extend service life and a flat-faced trigger for consistent, repeatable breaks.

Key Features
- Optic-Ready Slide: The slide is cut for RMSc footprint micro red dots, so you can mount your preferred optic without extra machining. Why it matters: You get faster target acquisition and better low-light performance without sending the slide out.
- Stacked Recoil Spring Assembly: Kimber uses two nested springs to reduce slide velocity and spread out wear. Why it matters: This design extends the life of the frame and slide, keeping the gun running longer between service intervals.
- Flat-Faced Trigger: A smooth, flat trigger face with a consistent pull weight and short reset. Why it matters: You get a more predictable break shot to shot, which helps with accuracy under stress.
- Fully Ambidextrous Controls: Slide stop and magazine release are mirrored on both sides. Why it matters: Left-handed shooters can run the gun without swapping parts, and it makes support-hand manipulations easier for everyone.
- Integrated Accessory Rail: A short rail on the dust cover fits most compact lights and lasers. Why it matters: You can add a weapon light for low-light identification without buying a separate adapter.
Who It’s For
This pistol is for anyone carrying concealed daily—newer shooters looking for a reliable compact, seasoned carriers wanting an optics-ready platform, or left-handed shooters who need ambi controls out of the box. If you train regularly and want a gun that takes RMSc optics without extra work, the CDS9 fits that role.
Pros & Cons
- Pro: Optic-ready slide saves you the cost and hassle of milling.
- Pro: Lightweight aluminum frame—under 22 ounces—makes it easy to carry all day.
- Pro: Ambidextrous controls work for both righties and lefties.
- Con: The two-tone finish shows holster wear faster than a full Cerakote job. If you carry appendix daily, expect the KimPro II to wear at contact points within a few months.

FAQ
Will the Kimber CDS9 fit my existing holster?
Most compact 9mm holsters with a universal fit will work, but because the CDS9 has an accessory rail and a slightly different slide profile, we recommend a holster made specifically for the CDS9 or a compact double-stack Kimber. Check the retention fit before carrying.
What optics fit the RMSc cut on the CDS9?
The RMSc footprint accepts micro red dots like the Holosun 407K/507K, Shield RMSc, Sig Romeo Zero, and Swampfox Sentinel. You do not need an adapter plate for those.
Is the CDS9 California-compliant?
As of April 2026, the Kimber CDS9 is not on the California Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale. We cannot ship this model to California addresses. Check back for roster updates.
Does the CDS9 come with extra magazines?
Yes, the CDS9 ships with two 15-round magazines in the box. Both are steel with a polymer base pad.
