Who It’s For
This Hi-Point C9 is built for budget-conscious shooters who want a reliable, safe 9mm for home defense, plinking, or as a truck gun. It’s also a smart choice for new gun owners who want an affordable entry point with a laser already attached. If you’re looking for a simple, honest handgun that goes bang every time and doesn’t require a second mortgage, this is it.
Pros & Cons
- Pros: Affordable price, includes LaserLyte laser, +P rated, last-round lock open, magazine disconnect safety, adjustable rear sight, extra rear peep sights included.
- Cons: The trigger pull is on the heavy side (around 8-9 lbs) and the slide is stiff when new. It’s not a competition trigger, but it’s reliable for defensive use.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the LaserLyte laser already zeroed from the factory?
Yes, the LaserLyte laser is mounted and roughly zeroed at 10 yards from Hi-Point. You can fine-tune it with the included adjustment tool, but it’s ready to use right out of the box.
Can I use +P ammunition in this pistol?
Yes, the Hi-Point C9 is rated for +P 9mm ammunition. The barrel and slide are built to handle higher-pressure loads for defensive use.
Does the magazine disconnect affect reliability?
No, the magazine disconnect is a safety feature that prevents firing when the mag is removed. It does not affect feeding or cycling with the magazine inserted.
What extra parts come in the box?
You get the LaserLyte laser (mounted), an extra set of rear peep sights, a trigger lock, and one 8-round magazine. Some retailers may include a second mag, but standard is one.
Is this a good first gun for a new shooter?
Absolutely. The thumb safety and magazine disconnect give you extra peace of mind while learning. The laser helps with sight alignment. And the price leaves you money for ammo and training.
