Key Features
- Roller-Delayed Blowback System – Why it matters: This system reduces felt recoil and improves shot-to-shot recovery, making follow-up shots faster and more controllable in .45 ACP.
- Full Ambidextrous Controls – Why it matters: Left- and right-handed shooters can operate the safety, magazine release, and bolt release without switching hands or purchasing aftermarket parts.
- Tool-Less Charging Handle Swap – Why it matters: You can move the charging handle to either side in seconds, accommodating your support-hand preference without any tools.
- Picatinny and M-LOK Handguard – Why it matters: The 12 and 6 o’clock picatinny rails plus 3 and 9 o’clock M-LOK slots let you mount lights, lasers, red dots, and irons exactly where you need them.
- Flip-Up Backup Sights Included – Why it matters: You get functional iron sights from the factory, so you can shoot immediately and add optics later.
Who It’s For
The SP45A3 is built for shooters who want a compact .45 ACP carbine that handles like a rifle but packs the stopping power of a handgun caliber. It fits home defense, range plinking, and competition use—especially for those who value ambidextrous controls and modular accessory mounting. If you’re left-handed, the full ambi design eliminates the usual ergonomic headaches.
Pros/Cons
- Pros: Low recoil for .45 ACP; ambidextrous controls; tool-less charging handle swap; M-LOK handguard; includes backup sights; 20-round magazine capacity.
- Cons: Aftermarket magazine compatibility is limited—stick with Grand Power magazines for reliable feeding. The bronze accent finish may show wear faster than a full black coating.
Comparison: GPWR Stribog SP45A3 vs. Zev Technologies OZ9 vs. Lone Wolf Distributors G17L

| Action | Roller-delayed blowback | Striker-fired | Striker-fired |
| Capacity | 20 rounds | 17 rounds | 17 rounds |
| Ambidextrous Controls | Full (safety, mag release, bolt release) | Partial (mag release reversible) | No (right-hand only) |
| Weight (unloaded) | ~5.8 lbs | ~1.7 lbs | ~1.5 lbs |
| Price | $1,509 | ~$1,200 | ~$500 |
| Best For | Home defense, competition, left-handed shooters | Competition, custom builds | Budget builds, range use |
The SP45A3 outshines the OZ9 and G17L in .45 ACP stopping power and ambidextrous usability, but it’s heavier and pricier than the Lone Wolf option. The Zev OZ9 offers more aftermarket parts, but the Stribog wins for left-handed shooters and those wanting a carbine platform.
FAQ
What magazines are compatible with the GPWR Stribog SP45A3?
Only Grand Power factory 20-round magazines are recommended for reliable feeding. Aftermarket or modified .45 ACP magazines may cause malfunctions.
Can I mount a red dot sight without removing the flip-up irons?
Yes. The 12 o’clock picatinny rail allows co-witness mounting with most red dots, so you can keep the backup sights installed.
Is the charging handle reversible without tools?
Yes. You can swap the charging handle to the opposite side by hand in about 10 seconds—no tools required.
Does the SP45A3 come with a warranty?
Per Grand Power specs, the SP45A3 includes a 1-year limited manufacturer warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship.
