About this product
The FN High Power 9mm 4.7 in 17-Round FDE/OD is a modern production of the classic Hi-Power, built for shooters who demand full-size 9mm performance with upgraded materials and ambidextrous controls. This pistol ships with two 17-round magazines, adjustable sights, and a PVD Flat Dark Earth finish paired with Dirty Olive G10 grips. If you carry in the city and need a reliable duty-sized handgun that blends the original Hi-Power ergonomics with modern durability, this FN High Power delivers.

Key Features
- PVD Flat Dark Earth Finish — This surface treatment resists corrosion and wear better than standard bluing, meaning your pistol holds up against daily carry sweat and urban humidity without losing its edge.
- Dirty Olive G10 Grips — G10 is a glass-epoxy laminate that won't absorb moisture or oils from your hands, giving you a positive grip even in rain or after a long range session.
- 17-Round Steel Magazines (Two Included) — You get two factory magazines out of the box, so you load one, carry one, and skip the aftermarket hunt. That’s 34 rounds of 9mm ready to go.
- Adjustable Rear Sight — Fine-tune your point of impact for different loads or distances. This matters when you’re zeroing for self-defense ammo at 7 to 25 yards.
- Ambidextrous Controls — Left- or right-handed? Both thumb safeties and slide stops are accessible from either side, which keeps you fast on the draw no matter your dominant hand.
Who It's For
This pistol is for the urban CCW holder who wants a full-size 9mm with a proven grip angle and modern finish. Apartment dwellers who keep one gun for both home defense and range practice will appreciate the 17-round capacity and adjustable sights. If you shoot left-handed or train with shooters of different handedness, the ambi controls eliminate the learning curve.
Pros & Cons
- Pro: Classic Hi-Power ergonomics updated with PVD finish and G10 grips — the feel is familiar but the materials are modern.
- Pro: Two 17-round magazines included; no need to buy spares immediately.
- Con: The trigger pull is heavier than aftermarket drop-in triggers from Geissele or Timney. If you’re used to a 4-lb trigger, this factory pull will feel stiff.

The Zev OZ9 offers a modular chassis and lighter trigger but costs $500 more. The Lone Wolf Timberwolf is budget-friendly but lacks the steel-frame feel and ambi controls of the FN. The FN High Power sits in the middle with proven ergonomics and a classic hammer-fired action.
FAQ
Does the FN High Power accept standard Hi-Power magazines?
No. The FN High Power uses proprietary steel magazines designed for this modern production. Standard vintage Hi-Power magazines will not fit the newer frame dimensions.
Is the adjustable rear sight suitable for concealed carry?
Yes. The rear sight is low-profile enough to avoid snagging on clothing, yet adjustable for windage and elevation. You can zero it for your preferred self-defense ammo without sending it to a gunsmith.
What holsters fit the FN High Power 4.7 in?
Most full-size holsters designed for the 1911 or Beretta 92 will not work. Look for holsters specifically molded for the FN High Power. Brands like Safariland, Blackhawk, and CrossBreed offer options as of early 2026.
Can I mount a red dot on this pistol?
The factory slide is not optics-ready. You will need to have the slide milled by a gunsmith or purchase an aftermarket adapter plate. Per FN specs, direct milling removes the rear dovetail, so plan accordingly.
