About this product
The FN 509C Compact 9mm 3.7″ Black — 2 Magazines is a factory-tuned carry pistol that shrinks down the proven 509 platform without sacrificing the controls or reliability you expect from FN. With a 3.7-inch cold hammer-forged barrel and a shortened grip, this compact 9mm conceals easily while still delivering a full 15+1 capacity with the flush-fit magazine. The matte black polymer frame, serrated stainless slide, and low-profile snag-free sights with a High-Viz front dot make it a practical choice for daily carry and home defense alike.

Key Features
- 3.7″ Cold Hammer-Forged Barrel — Why it matters: Cold hammer-forging work-hardens the steel for extended barrel life and consistent accuracy shot after shot, even with high-round-count training.
- Full Ambidextrous Controls — Why it matters: Slide stop and magazine release are mirrored on both sides, so left-handed shooters get the same speed and access as righties without aftermarket parts.
- MIL-STD-1913 Accessory Rail — Why it matters: Mount a compact weapon light or laser directly to the frame without adapters — critical for low-light identification and threat management.
- Low-Profile Snag-Free Sights with High-Viz Front Dot — Why it matters: The front sight’s bright dot draws your eye fast, and the snag-free profile won’t catch on clothing or holsters during a draw.
- Interchangeable Backstraps — Why it matters: Three included backstraps let you dial in palm swell and trigger reach to your hand size, improving recoil control and shot placement.
Who It’s For
This FN 509C Compact is built for the concealed carrier who wants full-size reliability in a package that disappears under a T-shirt. It also suits duty officers who need a backup gun that mirrors their primary 509’s controls, and shooters who prefer a compact grip but want the option to run extended 17-round magazines for the range or nightstand.
Pros & Cons
- Pros: True ambi controls out of the box; cold hammer-forged barrel for longevity; factory backstrap options fit most hand sizes; includes two magazines (one flush 15-round, one extended 17-round).
- Cons: The factory trigger has a slightly gritty take-up before the break — it’s serviceable for carry but shooters accustomed to custom triggers will want an upgrade. Also, the grip texture can be aggressive against bare skin under a light shirt.

FAQ
What magazines come with the FN 509C Compact?
Two magazines are included: one flush-fit 15-round magazine and one extended 17-round magazine with a grip adapter sleeve. Both are 9mm Luger.
Can I use FN 509 full-size magazines in this compact?
Yes. The 509C Compact accepts all FN 509 full-size magazines. The extended 17-round mag included is actually a full-size magazine with a sleeve that fills the grip gap — remove the sleeve and it fits flush with a full-size 509.
Is the FN 509C Compact optics-ready?
No, the standard 509C Compact does not come with a milled slide for red dots. FN offers a separate “MRD” version (model 66-100298) with an optics-ready slide. If you want to mount a dot, you’ll need to have the slide milled by a gunsmith or buy the MRD model. What holsters fit the FN 509C Compact?
Most holsters designed for the FN 509 Compact or FN 509 (with a shorter slide) will fit. Brands like Tier 1 Concealed, Vedder, and Safariland offer specific 509C Compact molds. Always confirm holster compatibility with your specific light or optic setup.
Does the FN 509C Compact have a threaded barrel?
No, the standard 509C Compact comes with a non-threaded barrel. FN does sell a threaded barrel separately (model 66-100311) if you want to add a suppressor or compensator.
