Key Features
- Scroll Hand Relief Engraving – Why it matters: This isn't a laser job—it's hand-cut scrollwork across the slide and frame, giving you a true custom look that stands apart from standard production 1911s.
- Recessed-Crown Barrel – Why it matters: Protects the crown from holster wear and accidental bumps, keeping accuracy consistent over years of carry and range use.
- 50 LPI Rear Serrations – Why it matters: Fine serrations give you a solid grip on the slide without being too aggressive, making press checks and reloads easier under stress.
- Custom Slide Rib – Why it matters: Lowers the sight picture and reduces glare, helping you get on target faster in bright light.
- Cocobolo Grips with Ed Brown Medallion – Why it matters: Cocobolo is a dense, oily wood that resists moisture and wear, paired with a medallion that tells everyone you're carrying something special.
Who It's For
This pistol is for the shooter who wants a carry 1911 that doubles as a showpiece. If you appreciate hand engraving, premium materials, and the reliability of a full-size frame in a compact package, this is your gun. It fits the collector who shoots and the shooter who collects.
Pros & Cons
- Pros: Hand-engraved scrollwork, recessed-crown barrel for accuracy, fine 50 LPI serrations, Cocobolo grips with medallion, stainless construction for durability.
- Cons: The hand engraving adds cost—this is not a budget 1911. Some shooters may prefer a higher capacity magazine for competition use.

FAQ
Is the Ed Brown Kobra Carry Signature reliable for daily carry?
Yes. Ed Brown 1911s are known for tight tolerances and reliable function. The recessed-crown barrel and stainless construction reduce wear from holster carry. Per Ed Brown specs, this pistol is built to run with quality .45 ACP ammunition.
What holster fits the 4.25-inch barrel?
Look for holsters designed for a 4.25-inch 1911 Government model or Commander-length frame. Many makers offer options for the Ed Brown Kobra Carry. I recommend a quality leather or Kydex holster with a sweat guard.
Does this model have a firing pin safety?
Yes, the Kobra Carry Signature includes a titanium firing pin and a lightweight firing pin stop. It also has a beavertail grip safety with a memory bump for positive engagement.
How does the trigger pull feel?
The trigger is a solid 4-pound pull, crisp with minimal overtravel. It's tuned by hand at the Ed Brown shop. You'll feel the difference from a box-stock 1911.
