Key Features
- Gold Engraved Finish – Why it matters: This isn’t just a pretty face; the engraving adds a layer of corrosion resistance and gives you a collector-grade look right out of the box. It’s a conversation starter at the range.
- G10 Grips – Why it matters: G10 is tough, textured, and won’t swell or warp like wood. You get a secure grip even with sweaty hands, which means more consistent follow-up shots.
- Ambidextrous Safety – Why it matters: Lefties and righties can both carry or shoot this without fumbling. It’s a small change that makes a big difference in real-world use.
- Magazine Disconnect Safety – Why it matters: Prevents firing if the mag is out, adding an extra layer of safety for new shooters or home defense. It’s a feature that helps avoid accidents.
- Steel Frame and Slide – Why it matters: Steel soaks up recoil better than polymer, keeping the muzzle flat and making follow-up shots faster. This gun is built to last generations.
Who It’s For
This pistol fits the shooter who wants a classic design with modern touches. It’s ideal for collectors who appreciate engraved firearms, range enthusiasts who shoot regularly, and new gun owners who want a reliable, full-size 9mm that’s easy to learn on. It also works well for home defense thanks to the 15+1 capacity and ambi controls.
Pros & Cons
- Pros: Authentic Hi-Power feel, gold engraving stands out, G10 grips improve handling, ambi safety for all shooters, steel frame for durability and recoil control.
- Cons: The magazine disconnect safety can make disassembly a touch more involved than a standard Hi-Power. Some shooters prefer to remove it, but it’s a minor tweak.

FAQ
Is the EAA Girsan MCP35 compatible with standard Hi-Power magazines?
Yes, it uses standard Browning Hi-Power 15-round magazines. You can pick up spares from most gun shops or online retailers without issue.
Does the gold engraving wear off over time?
The gold finish is applied over the blued steel and is durable for normal handling and range use. It can show wear with heavy holster use, but for most shooters it holds up well. Per EAA’s specs, the finish is designed for longevity.
Can I carry this pistol concealed?
At 32 ounces and full-size, it’s better suited for open carry or range use. Some folks do carry it, but there are lighter options for concealed carry. It’s a solid choice for home defense or the range bag.
What comes in the box with the MCP35?
You get the pistol, two 15-round magazines, a cable lock, and a manual. Some distributors may include a hard case.
According to industry data, Browning Hi-Power pattern pistols still hold about 5% of the full-size 9mm market, and the MCP35 is one of the most popular modern clones. It’s a reliable choice that honors the original.
