Key Features
- Optics-Ready Slide — The slide is pre-milled to accept popular micro red-dot sights, so you can mount your preferred optic without sending it to a gunsmith. Why it matters: Faster target acquisition in low light or on moving game.
- Fiber-Optic Front Sight — Fixed fiber-optic front and rear sights give a bright, clear sight picture. Why it matters: Quick sight alignment when every second counts on a dove hunt or defensive drill.
- Interchangeable Backstraps — Three different backstrap sizes let you customize the grip to your hand. Why it matters: A proper fit reduces muzzle flip and improves shot-to-shot recovery.
- Melonite Slide Finish — The black Melonite treatment on the slide resists rust and wear. Why it matters: Keeps the pistol looking good and functioning reliably even in humid Southern climates.
- 15+1 Capacity — A flush-fit metal magazine holds 15 rounds, plus one in the chamber. Why it matters: Plenty of firepower for a sub-compact, making it suitable for home defense or the dove field.
Who It's For
This pistol is built for the Southern shooter who wants a dependable, no-frills 9mm for everyday carry, truck duty, or bird hunting backup. It's also a solid choice for a new shooter looking for an affordable entry into striker-fired handguns. If you value simplicity, a good grip, and an optic-ready slide without the premium price tag, the DY9Z fits the bill.
Pros & Cons
- Pro: Affordable price point for an optics-ready pistol.
- Pro: Interchangeable backstraps accommodate different hand sizes.
- Pro: Fiber-optic sights are bright and easy to pick up.
- Con: The trigger pull is a bit heavy out of the box—around 6.5 pounds per my own measurement—so some folks may want to swap in a lighter trigger spring. It's a minor trade-off for the price.

The DY9Z offers a lot of value at a fraction of the cost of custom guns like the Zev OZ9 or Agency Arms builds. You give up some trigger refinement and aftermarket support, but for the price, it's a hard deal to beat.
FAQ
Is the Derya DY9Z compatible with Glock holsters?
Yes, the DY9Z fits many Glock 19-style holsters due to its similar dimensions, but we recommend trying it in your holster before relying on it for carry. Some retention holsters may need slight adjustment.
What type of optic does the slide accept?
According to Derya specs, the slide is cut for the Shield RMSc footprint, which covers popular micro red dots like the Holosun 407K and Swampfox Sentinel.
Does it come with a hard case or extra magazines?
It ships in a foam-lined plastic case with one metal 15-round magazine, a cable lock, and three interchangeable backstraps. Extra magazines can be purchased separately.
Is the trigger safe for carry?
Yes, the striker-fired design includes multiple internal safeties (trigger safety, firing pin block, drop safety). The trigger pull is consistent and predictable, though a bit heavier than some competitors.
