About this product
The CZ-USA SP-01 Shadow Custom 9mm 4.6 in 19-Round is a purpose-built competition pistol that delivers a refined trigger and consistent accuracy right out of the box. Built on a steel frame with CZ Custom upgrades including a short-reach/short-reset trigger kit and Ghost hammer, this 9mm semi-auto is designed for shooters who demand a crisp, repeatable trigger pull and fast sight acquisition. Per CZ-USA specs, the Shadow Custom combines a 4.6-inch barrel with a fiber-optic front sight and aluminum grips to reduce felt recoil and improve handling.

Key Features
- Short-Reach/Short-Reset Trigger Kit — Reduces trigger reach and reset distance, giving you faster follow-up shots and a cleaner break. Why it matters: less finger travel means more consistent trigger control under match pressure.
- Ghost Hammer — Lighter hammer with a smoother surface reduces lock time and improves trigger feel. Why it matters: faster hammer fall equals less sight movement before the round leaves the barrel.
- Fiber-Optic Front Sight — Bright green or red fiber optic draws your eye for rapid front-sight focus. Why it matters: clear sight acquisition in varied lighting conditions common at indoor ranges or outdoor matches.
- Aluminum Grips — Slim profile with aggressive texture locks your hand in place without bulk. Why it matters: better recoil control and faster magazine changes during competition stages.
- Steel Frame Construction — Full-size steel frame adds weight to dampen muzzle rise and recoil. Why it matters: more weight forward keeps the pistol flat for accurate double-taps and strings.
Who It’s For
This pistol is built for USPSA Production, IDPA SSP, and steel challenge shooters who want a competition-ready gun without immediate aftermarket work. It also suits experienced range shooters who appreciate a tuned trigger and reliable 19-round capacity. If you’re a competitive shooter looking for a consistent, repeatable platform, the SP-01 Shadow Custom is a direct fit.
Pros and Cons
- Pro: Out-of-the-box trigger is among the best for production-class pistols — light, short reset, no stacking.
- Pro: 19-round magazine gives you extra capacity for stages where reloading costs time.
- Con: The steel frame makes it heavy for concealed carry (2.5 lbs unloaded) — this is a range/competition gun, not a daily carry piece.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the CZ-USA SP-01 Shadow Custom optics-ready?
No, the standard SP-01 Shadow Custom does not come with a milled slide for optics. You can send the slide to a gunsmith for custom milling, but out of the box it’s designed for iron sights only.
Does the 19-round magazine work with other CZ 75 models?
Yes, the 19-round magazine is compatible with most CZ 75 full-size frames, including the standard SP-01 and 75B. It will not fit compact or subcompact models.
Is the trigger adjustable for overtravel?
The short-reset kit includes an overtravel screw on the trigger. You can fine-tune it to eliminate excess movement after the break, but be careful not to remove too much or the trigger may not reset.
What holsters fit the SP-01 Shadow Custom?
Most full-size CZ 75 holsters with a rail will fit, but the Shadow Custom’s aluminum grips are slightly thinner than standard. Kydex holsters molded specifically for the SP-01 Shadow or SP-01 Tactical offer the best retention.
