About this product
CZ has rolled out a fresh striker-fired 9mm, and it lands here with every version in one place. The DUTY 4.0 comes as the C compact and the F full-size, and both are offered with or without a manual thumb safety, marked MS on the safety models. Under the fiberglass-reinforced polymer grip sits a serialized internal chassis, which is the registered part, so the grip frame around it is modular. Every model carries a 4-inch barrel, fixed sights and a slide cut for direct-mount red dots.
For a buyer shopping across brands, the numbers are easy to compare. The compact holds 15+1, or 17+1 with the extended base plate, and the full-size holds 17+1, or 19+1 extended. The trigger is CZ's refined SFDA design with a pull around 5.6 pounds, a 4 mm reset and 9 mm of travel. Width is 1.3 inches on either size, overall length is 7.4 inches, and the MSRP is $729 for a brand-new service pistol.
Full-size means 17+1 rounds, a grip that takes the whole hand and a frame 5.6 in (143 mm) high. With the longer base plate the count goes to 19+1. Empty weight is 27.7 oz (780 g), which soaks up recoil without making the gun heavy on a belt.
There is no external safety on this model. Drop safety comes from the firing pin block, the trigger safety and the trigger bar safety, the way most modern striker-action pistols are set up. If you want a thumb safety lever, the MS version has one.
What is new under the slide is the registered modular chassis. The serial number lives on the internal chassis, not on the polymer grip, so the grip frame is a part you can change while the gun stays the same gun. Around it CZ put a reworked SFDA striker trigger, rated at 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs) with a 0.16 in (4 mm) reset and 9 ± 1 mm (0.4 ± 0.04 in) of travel, and a slide cut for direct-mount optics. CZ's own photos show it wearing Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield reflex sights.
The CZ DUTY 4.0 F suits anyone who wants a modern optics-ready 9mm with CZ's grip and a trigger that is better than the class average: the belt, the bedside and the range; the version to buy if you rarely need to hide the gun.
