About this product
CZ has rolled out a fresh striker-fired 9mm, and it lands here with every version in one place. The DUTY 4.0 comes as the C compact and the F full-size, and both are offered with or without a manual thumb safety, marked MS on the safety models. Under the fiberglass-reinforced polymer grip sits a serialized internal chassis, which is the registered part, so the grip frame around it is modular. Every model carries a 4-inch barrel, fixed sights and a slide cut for direct-mount red dots.
For a buyer shopping across brands, the numbers are easy to compare. The compact holds 15+1, or 17+1 with the extended base plate, and the full-size holds 17+1, or 19+1 extended. The trigger is CZ's refined SFDA design with a pull around 5.6 pounds, a 4 mm reset and 9 mm of travel. Width is 1.3 inches on either size, overall length is 7.4 inches, and the MSRP is $729 for a brand-new service pistol.
The C is the compact frame. It stands 5.3 in (135 mm) tall, weighs 27.2 oz (770 g) with an empty magazine and carries 15+1 rounds of 9mm, or 17+1 once the longer base plate is fitted. Short enough to hide under a shirt, long enough to get every finger on the grip.
This version has no external safety lever. It relies on three automatic safeties, firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger bar safety, and the trigger is the same as on the MS model. Shooters who prefer a lever should pick the MS.
What is new under the slide is the registered modular chassis. The serial number lives on the internal chassis, not on the polymer grip, so the grip frame is a part you can change while the gun stays the same gun. Around it CZ put a reworked SFDA striker trigger, rated at 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs) with a 0.16 in (4 mm) reset and 9 ± 1 mm (0.4 ± 0.04 in) of travel, and a slide cut for direct-mount optics. CZ's own photos show it wearing Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield reflex sights.
The CZ DUTY 4.0 C suits anyone who wants a modern optics-ready 9mm with CZ's grip and a trigger that is better than the class average: concealed carry where your state allows it, home defense, and range time that does not need a service-size grip.

Frequently asked questions
- Which DUTY 4.0 should I pick, the C or the F?
- The C compact is 135 mm tall with 15+1 rounds and suits carry; the F full-size is 143 mm tall with 17+1 and gives a fuller grip for range and duty use.
- Does the slide take a red dot without a plate?
- Yes, the slide is cut for direct-mount optics, and CZ's own photos show Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield dots fitted.
- Does the CZ DUTY 4.0 C take CZ P-10 magazines?
- CZ lists the DUTY with its own 15-round magazine and an extended base plate for 17+1. P-10 magazine fit is not confirmed, so plan on DUTY magazines.
- Is the compact easy to shoot?
- It shares the 4-inch barrel and slide with the full-size gun, so the sight radius is the same. Only the grip is shorter.
