Key Features
- Match-Grade Bull Barrel – The 4.925″ barrel is made from 416 stainless steel, providing the rigidity and consistency needed for tight shot groups at the range or in competition.
- Competition-Style Controls – Extended thumb safety, slide stop, and magazine release let you run the gun faster without fumbling, especially under stress.
- Fiber-Optic Front Sight – Bright, high-contrast front post gets your eye on target quickly, reducing split times in practical shooting stages.
- Steel Frame Construction – All-steel build absorbs recoil and keeps the muzzle flat for follow-up shots, giving you an edge in USPSA or IDPA matches.
- 19+1 Capacity – Two 19-round magazines mean fewer reloads and more time focusing on your stage plan.
Who It’s For
This pistol is built for the competitive shooter who wants a no-compromise platform. If you’re shooting USPSA Limited or Production, or training to improve your practical accuracy, the A01-SD gives you the edge. It also suits the serious student who wants a dedicated range gun with match-grade precision.
Pros and Cons
- Pro: Exceptional accuracy from the match bull barrel – expect sub-2″ groups at 25 yards.
- Pro: Steel frame and low bore axis reduce muzzle rise for fast follow-ups.
- Con: At roughly 40 oz unloaded, it’s heavy for carry – this is a range/competition gun, not a daily carry piece.
- Con: Limited aftermarket holster support compared to mainstream models like the CZ 75 or Shadow 2.

FAQ
Is the CZ Custom A01-SD accurate out of the box?
Yes. The match-grade 416 stainless steel bull barrel and tight tolerances produce consistent sub-2″ groups at 25 yards with quality ammunition. Per CZ Custom specs, it’s designed for competition-level precision.
What magazines does it use?
It ships with two 19-round magazines. These are proprietary to the A01-SD but share compatibility with CZ 75 SP-01 and Shadow 2 magazines in 9mm.
Can I use this pistol for concealed carry?
It’s possible, but not ideal. The steel frame and 4.925″ barrel make it heavy (approx. 40 oz) and large for daily carry. It’s best suited for range, training, and competition use.
Does it have an optics cut?
No, the A01-SD comes with a fiber-optic front sight and adjustable rear. For optics, you’ll need a separate slide milling service.
