Key Features
- Cold Hammer-Forged Barrel: The 4.6-inch barrel is forged from a single piece of steel, then hammered into rifling. This means longer barrel life and consistent accuracy shot after shot, even with heavy use.
- DA/SA Trigger with Manual Decocker: The double-action first pull gives you a safety buffer, while the single-action follow-ups are crisp and light. The decocker lets you lower the hammer safely without touching the trigger.
- Steel Frame with Accessory Rail: The all-steel construction absorbs recoil and keeps the muzzle flat for faster follow-up shots. The integrated rail lets you mount a light or laser for low-light situations.
- Three-Dot Night Sights: Tritium inserts glow in the dark, so you can align your sights in any lighting condition. No batteries, no switches — just reliable illumination for years.
- Two 10-Round Magazines Included: Each magazine is steel-bodied with a polymer basepad for easy loading. You get two out of the box, plus the gun ships with a lockable hard case.
Who It's For
This CZ 75 SP-01 is built for shooters who want a heavy, stable platform that tames recoil. It works great for USPSA Production division competitors who need a reliable DA/SA gun. It also suits home defense owners who prefer a manual decocker over a thumb safety — the decocker lets you keep the gun ready but safe. New gun owners will appreciate the simple controls and the all-metal feel that helps with accuracy.
Pros and Cons
Pros: The steel frame makes it one of the softest-shooting 9mms under $1,000. The cold hammer-forged barrel is accurate enough for competition. The night sights are bright and durable. The decocker is intuitive and safe for carry or storage.
Cons: The 40.5-ounce weight is heavy for concealed carry. If you plan to carry this daily, you’ll want a good belt and holster. Also, the factory trigger has a slightly long reset — some shooters swap in a CZ Custom or Cajun Gun Works trigger kit for faster follow-ups.

| Best For | Competition, home defense | Custom builds, competition | Budget builds, Glock clones |
The CZ 75 SP-01 gives you a steel frame and a proven DA/SA trigger for about $925. The Zev OZ9 is lighter and more modular but costs more and uses a striker system. The Lone Wolf Timberwolf is a budget-friendly Glock-style pistol that’s lighter but lacks the recoil-absorbing heft of the CZ. If you want a competition-ready gun that doesn’t need upgrades, the SP-01 is the smarter choice.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the CZ 75 SP-01 safe for concealed carry?
The SP-01 is heavy at 40.5 ounces and has a full-size grip, so it’s not ideal for concealed carry unless you’re using a high-quality holster and a sturdy belt. Most owners use it for home defense or competition. If you need a carry gun, look at the CZ 75 Compact or P-01.
Does the CZ 75 SP-01 come with a manual safety or decocker?
This model comes with a manual decocker only. It does not have a thumb safety. The decocker lets you lower the hammer to a safe position without touching the trigger. If you prefer a thumb safety, look for the CZ 75 SP-01 Safety model.
Can I use standard CZ 75 magazines in the SP-01?
Yes, the SP-01 accepts all standard CZ 75 magazines, including 10-round, 15-round, 17-round, and 19-round options. The two included magazines are 10-round capacity.
What is the trigger pull weight on the CZ 75 SP-01?
Per CZ specs, the double-action pull is approximately 10-12 pounds, and the single-action pull is approximately 4-5 pounds. These are factory measurements and can vary slightly between guns.
