About this product
The Colt 1911 Competition Pistol .45 ACP 5″ Two-Tone is a factory-tuned 1911 that skips the custom shop wait without skipping the performance. Chambered in .45 ACP with a 5-inch barrel, it pairs a blued slide with a brushed stainless frame for a two-tone look that holds up to hard range use. Novak adjustable fiber-optic sights, G10 checkered grips, and an undercut trigger guard make this a pistol that rewards fast, repeatable shooting.

Key Features
- Novak Adjustable Fiber-Optic Sights – WHY IT MATTERS: The fiber-optic front pulls your eye to the target fast, and the adjustable rear lets you dial in elevation and windage for match-grade accuracy at 25 yards.
- G10 Checkered Grips – WHY IT MATTERS: G10 is impervious to sweat and oil, and the aggressive checkering locks your hand in place during rapid fire strings, so you don’t adjust your grip between shots.
- Undercut Trigger Guard – WHY IT MATTERS: That extra material removed under the trigger guard lets you ride your support hand higher, reducing muzzle rise and speeding follow-up shots.
- Two-Tone Steel Construction – WHY IT MATTERS: The blued slide resists holster wear while the brushed stainless frame shrugs off corrosion from range sweat—no need to baby it after a match.
- 5-Inch Barrel with Match-Grade Bushings – WHY IT MATTERS: A full-length barrel gives you the sight radius and velocity you want for competition, and the tight bushing improves lockup for consistent accuracy.
Who It's For
This Colt 1911 Competition Pistol is built for the shooter who shows up to local USPSA or Steel Challenge matches with a range bag and a stopwatch. It’s also for the EDC collector who wants a classic 1911 platform with modern upgrades—no smithing required. If you shoot .45 ACP for the recoil impulse and want factory reliability with adjustable sights, this is your pistol.
Pros / Cons
- Pros: Factory-tuned trigger breaks clean at 4 lbs; Novak fiber-optic sights are daylight-bright; G10 grips hold tight even with wet hands; two-tone finish looks sharp and hides holster wear; undercut trigger guard works with high-thumb hold.
- Cons: The 40-ounce weight is noticeable on the belt all day—this is a range/competition gun, not a lightweight carry piece. The adjustable rear sight can snag on cover garments during a draw.

Does the Colt 1911 Competition Pistol come with a full-length guide rod?
Yes, per Colt specs, the Competition Pistol includes a full-length steel guide rod. This adds weight to the front of the slide, helping reduce muzzle flip during fast strings. It also simplifies disassembly—just push out the slide stop and remove the rod and spring as a unit.
Can I mount a red dot on this Colt 1911 Competition Pistol?
No, the slide is not optic-cut from the factory. The Novak adjustable fiber-optic rear sight is dovetailed, so you’d need to send the slide to a machine shop for milling if you want a red dot. Many shooters prefer the irons-only setup for USPSA Single Stack division, where optics aren’t allowed.
What magazines are compatible with the Colt 1911 Competition Pistol?
The pistol ships with one 8-round stainless steel magazine. Standard 1911 .45 ACP magazines from Wilson Combat, Tripp Research, or Check-Mate work reliably. Stick to 8-rounders for flush fit; 10-round extended mags will protrude past the grip.
How does the two-tone finish hold up to holster wear?
The blued slide will show holster rub over time—that’s normal for carbon steel. The brushed stainless frame is more resistant to scratches and corrosion. If you plan to carry it daily, consider a leather holster to slow the wear, or just let it develop character.
Is the Colt 1911 Competition Pistol California-legal?
As of April 2026, this model is not on the California Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale. It cannot be sold new to non-exempt buyers in California. Check with your local FFL for roster updates or private-party transfer options.
