Key Features
- Genuine 50-Round Drum Magazine: This is the heart of the Thompson experience. The included drum gives you a full 50 rounds of .45 ACP on tap, letting you stay in the action longer without reloading. Why it matters: You get the classic look and the firepower that made the original famous, right out of the box.
- 10.5-Inch Finned Barrel: The distinctive finned profile is not just for looks—it helps dissipate heat during sustained strings of fire. Why it matters: The barrel stays cooler, and the iconic silhouette tells everyone at the range you mean business.
- Period-Style Walnut Furniture: The fore-end and pistol grip are crafted from real walnut, matching the original 1920s aesthetic. Why it matters: You get a piece of history in your hands, with a warm, solid feel that synthetic stocks just cannot match.
- Modern Semi-Auto Action: This is a semi-automatic firearm, not a full-auto replica, built to current legal standards. Why it matters: You can own and shoot a piece of history without the NFA paperwork, while still enjoying the smooth cycling of a .45 ACP.
- Lightweight Aluminum Receiver: The receiver is made from lightweight aluminum alloy, reducing overall weight compared to the original steel. Why it matters: You can carry and shoulder this Thompson for a full day at the range without feeling like you hauled an anvil.
Who It's For
This Thompson is built for the southern shooter who appreciates history and wants a reliable range companion. It suits collectors who want a display piece they can actually shoot, historical shooting enthusiasts who enjoy World War II and Prohibition-era firearms, and recreational shooters who want a conversation starter that performs. It is also a fine choice for anyone who loves the .45 ACP cartridge and wants a platform that delivers it with authority.
Pros & Cons
- Pros: Authentic look and feel, 50-round drum included, smooth .45 ACP shooting, lightweight aluminum receiver, solid walnut furniture, reliable semi-auto action.
- Cons: The 50-round drum is heavy when loaded, and the overall weight (around 11.5 lbs) can be tiring for extended standing sessions. The rear sight is a simple fixed notch, so precision accuracy at long range is not its strong suit.
