A complete slide swap is the fastest way to change what a Glock does — add an optic cut, a window pattern, a threaded barrel and better sights in one move, while keeping your registered frame untouched. Assembled versus stripped

A stripped slide needs a striker assembly, extractor channel, sights and barrel added — a parts list that surprises first-time builders. Generation compatibility is strict

Slides and frames must share a generation family. Gen 3 slides fit Gen 3 frames and the aftermarket frames built to Gen 3 pattern — which is why Gen 3 dominates the build market. Profiles: radius, tapered, windowed

Machined profiles are partly aesthetic, partly functional. Sights and optics

Budget for sights if your slide choice doesn't include them — factory plastic sights are the first thing serious shooters replace anyway.
